Haiti
Currently it is estimated that the severe earthquake in Haiti has caused 200,000 arm and leg amputations. The EMPH (LN-4) Foundation is planning to provide as many prosthetic hands as we can to children and adults who have lost their arms by the traumas caused by collapsed buildings. Estimates are that it will take 4 to 6 months for the devastation to stabilize, infrastructure to be put in place, and for arm amputees to be identified for treatment. In preparation for providing as many hands;as possible, the Foundation is seeking to establish working relationships with Rotary Clubs, Helping Hands, Airline Ambassadors, Prosthetika, Latin American Concern (ILAC)Mission Physicians for Peace, Handicap International, and other non-profit organizations. At present there are volunteers from some of these organization on the scene to assess the medical situation prior to sending others there to provide services.
LN-4 Ambassador Seminar
We are planning to conduct in the Walnut Creek area, a seminar for those interested in extending the work of the LN-4 Foundation. We will hold a one day event in the coming months of 2010 which will cover evaluations, and registration, fitting and training for LN-4 recipients. The event will also provide all information and materials needed to make LN-4 presentations on behalf of the foundation.
If you are interested please contact us - EMPHF@LN-4.org by email is prefered.
Additional LN-4 Locations
We are working on new projects and seeking new developments at several locations in India, at three locations in Ecuador and one in Nigeria.
Other projects are being developed and will be listed here when we have more information and as the organizations we work with complete their commitments - things happen so quickly with our LN-4 projects it is often not possible to keep the web-site updated. Many deliveries are made by traveling Rotarians, and volunteer Rotarians.
We have ongoing, repeating LN-4 fittings in Vietnam, Thailand, India, Ecuador and Colombia, central and eastern Africa.
Please send us the LN-4 news you want to have included. Updates and stories are always welcomed. We want to hear from you!
